From Billy:
Hi EskieFriends,
I am a 5 yr old male standard American Eskimo
who found myself locked up in a small cage,
laying on a cold cement floor at the Los
Angeles County Baldwin Park Animal Shelter.
I was cold, very badly matted, sore, limping
and very tired. My owner was no where to
be found. I felt very lonely and abandoned.
Everybody looked at me but nobody wanted
me. A very nice rescue lady came by and put
a hold on me so I wouldn't die but she never
came back to claim me. I waited patiently
in the hope that she would come back and
get me out of here. Although she gave me
more time before the big "D" day,
she failed to come back and I was left to
die.
Then one day this other rescue lady came
in and walked by my cage. I demanded I be
taken out and given some attention. She petted
me, inspected my legs....they weren't moving
so great as I had somehow injured my back
leg. It had gotten kinda sore from the cold
weather and bad living conditions. She checked
my teeth and overall temperment. She then
determined I was a special boy and told me
she would take care of me. She immediately
went to the front office and had me bailed
out. Before I knew it, I was moved and put
with another fuzzy who looked just like me.
The lady went away but came back the next
day and picked both of us up and took us
for a ride.
After a 2 hour drive we stopped at another
place that I wasn't too sure about. She reassured
my buddy and me that this would be much better
than where we came from and much bigger!
This new place was a Second Chance for dogs
Humane Society and they gave me the necessary
medical attention I needed in order to look
good for the people who were looking for
a new pet. I spent three weeks with them.
Finally they determined my injury was
hindering my chances at finding my own special
family, so they called the nice lady who
rescued me and had her come and pick up both
of us.
She took both of us to her home and made
us comfortable and cozy. We had several other
playmates who looked just like us! This home
was warm and beautiful.
I was given another bath where they shaved
all my hair off, got my picture taken for
the internet and went to the vet's office
once again for another evaluation. I stayed
with my new foster Mommy for a couple weeks
before she found another foster home for
me to spend my time in. I had my own backyard
that I shared with four other Eskies just
like me. I got to sleep with my foster Daddy,
to go to the Doggie Park to play. I got my
own food bowl and lots of treats. Boy was
this the life!
Then one day a nice family came along with
a pre-teen boy who fell in love with me and
decided to adopt me. Finally I got my own
family and they didn't care about my limp!
They treated me with alot of love and respect
but that didn't last very long. They decided
to give me back because the boy wasn't being
responsible enough and his punishment was
to loose me!
Back into foster care I went with my old
Foster Daddy who welcomed me back with open
arms. By now my leg was hurting. My rescue
Mommy decided to take me to a "specialist"
for bones and joints. So, I said goodbye
to my buddies at my foster home and off I
went to the vet again.
The vet took a look at my leg and x-rayed
me. He found an old injury in my foot where
the ankle and foot actually meets. That was
causing my limping!!! Since it was an old
injury, there was nothing that could be done
except daily vitamins and special chewable
pills for the bones/joints. As long as I
take my pill everyday, I feel fine and am
able to run, jump and play just like all
the others. However, when the weather flairs
up, I get sore even while taking the vitamins.
The vet said I will have this for the rest
of my life so I need to adjust and learn
to live with it. This is okay with me as
I'm not feeling any real pain and the injury
is something I'm use too.
I still live in a foster home with my Rescue
Mommy. She is still looking for a nice forever
home for me. She says that one day someone
will come along and understand my injury.
Someone that will not care about my foot/leg
nor the limp, and will fall in love with
me even though I'm not perfect! I hope this
happens soon, as I miss having my own family.
My "buddy" was adopted and I long
to have my own family to spoil me. A family
to call my own.
For now though, I am content to trust my
rescue Mommy and know that I am safe, sound
and secure. No more cold cement bed for me!
No way! So thank you rescue Mommy - Lori
Pasch, Heart Bandits-Greater LA Area - for
the help. I love you and all my other rescue
buddies in our household! You were there
when I needed you and I appreciate that more
than words can say!
I'm really tired of moving from home to home!
I need a home of my own. If you are looking
for a loving, gorgeous, cuddly, handsome
furboy, I'm the one!! Contact my FosterMom
