January 2003 Dogbowl Payout: 6 Eskies

The 6 Eskies Story
(Told by rescuer Kitten Jones)

Six eskies came to the Lighthouse the week of Jan. 20th. None had been on heart worm preventative. All had been badly neglected all their lives.

Three of them, from Orange County Humane Society, had tested positive for heart worms. They were going to be put down if rescue would not take them We were worried that the others might also test positive.

Good news!! The other three tested negative and have been vaccinated, wormed, and placed on preventative.

Snow was the oldest at 11 years of age. She was so heavily infested that her heart could not take it anymore. She died at my vets office before she could be treated.

Axel, (her mate) and Lars, (their son) are 9 and 10 years old. They have now had their initial treatment and will need two more. Axel is very sick from the treatments and we can only pray that he survives them. Not only were they infested with heart worms but were also heavily with hook worms and whip worms. They had never had any of the care that they needed and had been outside dogs all their lives.

Please say prayers that they survive their treatments and that Lighthouse can find wonderful, loving homes for all of them.

God bless you,
Kitten and all the fuzzbutts

He gave man "dominion" over the animals
Shouldn't we treat them like we want God to treat us?
