Snuggles' Story
Call Me Snuggles

Hi, I'm Snuggles! My foster mom named me that cause she says I'm the most snuggly Eskie she's ever seen. And that's saying a lot for an Eskie! You could call me lucky too cause I think I'm a pretty lucky little guy. Now, you might not think I'm lucky when I tell you that I have heartworms, cause they are not very nice things to have. But you'll change your mind when you hear the rest of my story.

I'm not a very old little boy. The vet says 1-2 years. I'm a mini Eskie under 20 pounds. I get along with other doggies, but my foster mom says I'm food aggressive. That means that I lay beside my food bowl and growl at all the other doggies for looking at my food. You never know when your food might just disappear so you've gotta guard it well. But our foster mom is great. She has extra food and water bowls in the house just in case someone tries to take our food. She doesn't like it either when I growl at my foster brothers and sister Eskies so I'm trying to learn that there is plenty of food for all of us and that it is not going to disappear. It is such a cozy place here that I can almost not believe it. Besides mom has this trick that when I start growling, she calls me to come on her lap for snuggling, and who can worry about food when their being snuggled? Not me!

I didn't always live at this reskie resort. Not long ago I lived in a shelter with lots of other dogs in someplace called Alabama. I'm not sure where that is, but it's a long way from here for sure. One day this nice lady came to the shelter and got me. She said we were going on a railroad with another dog from the shelter, a great big German Shepherd named Sasha. Sasha was just a puppy, but she was way bigger than me. Well, we didn't go on a train at all! Instead we got in the front of this big U-haul truck, and went for a ride. It was cool. Sasha liked looking out the window best. There wasn't room at the window for both of us, so I just lay down on the seat by this nice lady. I just sort of kept sliding a little closer, and then I put my head on her lap, and she petted me! That felt so good, I just snuggled up as close to her as I could get, and I didn't budge the whole trip. That's when she decided my name was Snuggles. I didn't mind. She could call me anything she wanted. I just wanted her to keep petting me forever.

It turns out she was taking me to her home where she lives with lots of other Eskies. Sasha was just along for the ride, and she went to live in Illinois with some people who really like German Shepherd dogs. That's hard to believe, isn't it? Who could pick a big dog like that over a cute little Eskie like me? Well, there's no accounting for taste I guess. And that big truck we rode in, well, it really wasn't their truck at all. It turns out my foster mom just rented it to bring some of her things from Florida back to Indiana. That's why I say I'm lucky. If mom hadn't been coming back from Florida and going through Alabama and if all those great people in Indiana, Missouri, Georgia, and Alabama hadn't helped her with their computers. Well, I just don't want to think about it!

But here I am safe and snug in my new home. I keep hearing my mom say that I'll find a "forever home" soon, but I don't know what she means. I'm perfectly happy here. Well, I would be if she would just get rid of those other Eskies. I keep trying to tell them she's MY mom! But they don't listen very well. They say they were here first. Who cares? I just wanna be snuggled.

I'm started my heartworm treatment on Oct 29. I'm getting rid of these nasty heartworms soon. And when I do, I won't have anything left to worry about. Except maybe how to get mom all to myself. Hmmm! Do you have other doggies? Would you like to have your very own snuggle bunny all to yourself to love on 24/7? If so, I might just consider coming to live with you. You'll have to talk to my foster mom first. I know she'll miss me a lot when I go. Do you have lots of food? What's your name? Just call me Snuggles, and email my foster mom, Louise Smith, at weezy@psci.net. Tell her you want ME....Snuggles! My foster mom and I live in Indiana.

My bill is only $74.20. Payment is being sent directly to my vet.
Thank you EskieFriends for giving me.....a second chance at life.

Eskie Hugs & Kisses, Luv & Licks,

Just call me "Snuggles"
