Hello, my name is Holly. I have a sad tale
to tell, but don't cry cause it has a happy
ending. I was found running stray by animal
control in Hopkinsville, KY. That was scary.
I thought I was a real goner when the dogcatcher
got me. You KNOW what they say about him!
But it wasn't so bad. They took me to a place
with lots of other doggies and good food.
Some of the doggies said it wasn't a nice
place at all, but I thought it was heaven.
I had a warm, dry place to sleep and food
and water in my dish every day. They gave
me a nice bath, and made all the fleas that
were biting me leave.
The ladies there were very nice to me, but
they were worried about me too. I heard them
say I had heartworms. I don't know what heartworms
are, but they must be something like the
worms in my tummy were. I'm embarrassed to
tell you this, but when I pooped, it looked
like a bowl of spaghetti. Heartworms must
be awfully bad things, cause the ladies were
afraid I wouldn't get a forever home because
of them. I don't know what a "forever
home" is cause I haven't got one yet,
but it must be nice. All the doggies in this
place want one. But then something really
good happened. I could tell cause the ladies
were happy again. They got an "email"
from a lady who wanted me even with my bad
heartworms. They said she helped Eskies like
me.
One of the ladies from the shelter took me
for a ride. I liked riding in a car. We drove
way up North to Indiana, and they left me
at a house where there was a big yard. I
wasn't sad when they left me cause there
were lots of little kids there. They petted
me, and hugged me, and called me "good
dog". I like little kids. I'm finding
out lots of things that I like.
The next morning another nice lady came to
get me. She said she was my foster mom and
that the little kids were her "grandchildren".
She took me for another car ride. Boy, two
car rides in two days is pretty great. We
drove until we came to another big yard,
but this one had lots of other doggies too.
The other doggies told me this wasn't a "forever
home" but it was a pretty great place.
They called it a "reskie resort".
I found out I'm a reskie too. Hmmm, an Eskie,
and a Reskie! Wow, I'm learning lots about
myself.
My foster mom took me to the doggie doctor,
and I was very good. I knew he was a nice
man, and that he would make me feel better.
First he got rid of my yucky tummy full of
worms. Now when I poop it doesn't look like
spaghetti anymore! Then I had to rest and
get healthier so that I could be spayed.
That didn't take long at a nice place like
this. When the doctor spayed me, he found
out I was pregnant, but the puppies would
have been very sick too. My foster mom felt
sad cause my puppies would have been sweet
like me, but she knew it was better for my
health this way. I had to rest and get strong
again after that so I can get rid of these
bad heartworm things. I didn't mind. It's
easy to relax here. Now I'm all rested and
ready. On Oct 29, I started my heartworm
treatment. When I am finally rid of those
bad heartworms, I will be ready to find a
"forever home" myself. I can hardly
wait. It sounds even better than a reskie
resort.
I am about 1-2 years old. My foster mom thinks
I am a biscuit cream Eskie cause I have a
light brown tinge on my fur. She says I look
like I was dipped in Honey. She says I am
a real honey too. She named me "Holly"
but you could call me "Honey" if
you wanted. When I was at the shelter, they
called me "Silk" cause my fur is
soft and silky. I have a curly tail, and
I am standard size. I weigh about 25 pounds.
When they gave me a bath, they "groomed"
me to get rid of the mats and the fleas so
my foster mom can't tell how shaggy I am
yet. Guess they didn't know that Eskies are
supposed to have long hair. My ears are perky,
but they are not perfect. They have little
tiny pieces missing on the ends where the
flies ate them. That's pretty gross I know,
but they are all healed, and the fur is growing
back so they look almost perfect. If you
will give me a chance to be your "forever
friend", I will be so grateful you will
not even notice them.
My foster mom says I am the most grateful
Eskie she has ever met. I try so hard, and
I never complain. I like kids, and cats,
and other dogs. When I am all rid of those
bad old heartworms, I hope you will give
me a chance to show you how good I can be.
If you would like to adopt me, email my foster
mom, Louise, at: weezy@psci.net
We are in Indiana.
My bill is only $181.20 and payment will
be sent directly to my nice vet.
Thank you EskieFriends for giving me.....a second chance at life!
Eskie Hugs & Kisses, Luv & Licks,
Pretty girl Holly |
