June 2002 Dogbowl Payout: Marshmallow

Marshmallow's Story
My name is Marshmallow. I was left in the night drop box at the pound. The people at the pound tried to be nice to me but it was scary in there. Even so, I behaved myself. I was there a long time. They said no one would take me. Finally a nice lady named Betty saw me in there. She was there to pick up some other dogs for rescue. Betty took me right out of there, and I went to Dan and Kim.

Dan and Kim told me that I was in rescue now. They said I was safe and that nothing bad would happen to me again. Kim said that I would stay with them until my perfect people came to adopt me. I decided right then that I didn't have to worry anymore.

Kim gave me a bath. I was really, really dirty and my hair was all tangled. My bath took a long time. Kim soaped me and soaped me, then she combed through all my tangles. I was so glad to get a good bath that I fell asleep standing up. My legs were very tired. I have ankles that weren't made quite right, so I wobble a little when I walk. Kim said I look like 2 marshmallows stuck together. I decided my name was Marshmallow! Every time they said Marshmallow, I came right away.

I was so happy to meet the other dogs that looked like me! I made friends with everyone! There were even some cats there. I made friends with them, too. After a few weeks, Kim told me that there were some nice people who thought they wanted me. That sounded exciting! I got to meet Angela and Paul, and I really liked them! Angela and Paul couldn't take me home right away because I still needed to be neutered.

I had an undescended testicle, and also the Dr needed to look at my ankles.Danny took me to see the doctor. The doctor said I had a slight heart murmur, so they did an EKG. My EKG came out just fine, so I had my surgery. While I was having my surgery, the doctor flushed out my tear ducts. Danny told me that the doctor told him that I needed to come back there again to get an xray. The doctor was worried that I might have hip dysplasia!

Danny and Kim, and Angela and Paul were all worried about me, but I wasn't worried. I was just so happy to have a nice place to stay and that Angela and Paul wanted me! I went back to see the doctor and I had my xray taken. When Danny came to pick me up, guess what? The doctor said I didn't have hip dysplasia! Just funny ankles!

Then it was my adoption day! Paul and Angela were really happy to see me! Paul gave me kisses! I met some other people, too, named Nanie and Tim. Nanie and Tim have 2 dogs like me! Their names are Mattie and Oskie. I made friends with them right away! After we played and ran around for awhile, it was time for me to go to my new home.

I was a little sad to say goodbye to Danny and Kim. Kim cried, but she told me not to feel scared. She said that I was going to be so happy because Angela and Paul love me so much. Kim promised me that it would be wonderful, and do you know what? It is!
Me with my new family! :) Kim and Dan currently have 30 rescue Eskies. They had an agreement with Wayne Peters that they would take care of her dogs, making sure they get loving, responsible forever homes. That's a lot of Eskies needing homes. They have doubled their rescue area to include Wayne's area.

My bill is $339. I appreciate you EskieFriends helping me pay my bill. I'm so happy I got...a second chance at life.

Thank you EskieFriends. I luv ya!!
