Benz's Story
Hello All,

I'm an approx 8-year old, mini male Eskie named Benz. I was rescued by a vet tech Houston Texas who had kept me in the vet's clinic since just before Christmas. The vet tech had hopes of finding a home for me, with people willing to spend the time, care and money to get me back info good shape. They got in touch with Kim Galloway asking for help to place me.

Upon examination, I was found to have what we were told originally was a broken shoulder which had been wired together, but what turns out to be a break in the lower part of my front leg and which has caused me to be somewhat lame. I also have a bad break with calcified spur/deterioration in my right hip joint, which may need to be replaced or maybe just cut off in order to give me some relief from the pain and make me more mobile. I also have buckshot in my left shoulder which they thought would be a good idea to get out during surgery.

I have some muscle atrophy from my injuries. I find it difficult to walk at times. All in all, I walk very slowly and seemingly in pain, much like a table with the two opposite corner's legs shorter than the others.

I went to my foster home....fosterMom is Annette Dias. Annette is a trainer as well as a member of the local Eskie rescue group. She is beginning physical therapy, massage, Glucosomine/Condrotin, and some pain meds to see how much that will help in the meantime.
I am such a sweetheart, and have my good days/bad days. Annette and her family does their utmost to make me comfortable and loved!

A month later..................
My story continues! 3 vets, Annette and Judy Dawson have decided against any surgery for me. After observing me in Annette's home for over a month, they don't feel a hip surgery will change my lethargic behavior, and the post op would not be good for me either. I like to sleep a majority of the day due to my advanced age. I get up when I need to potty/eat, then back to bed for another long nap. My level 4 heart murmur is cause for concern re anesthetic, as well my age of 10-15 yrs. I will continue getting my Rimadyl, which works well for me, along with the supplements.

Update:
My FosterMom has decided I will live out my days in the comforts of her home, where I get carried around, coddled, loved, and noone will abuse me ever again.

EskieFriends is paying for 6 months of my Rimadyl tablets which totals $105. Thank you, EskieFriends, for helping me. A BIG thank you to "MY NEW MOM" Annette. I have a FOREVER home...and a second chance at life.

Eskie Hugs,
Benz
