March 28th...Story told by Sandy Cheney
Blue is a spayed female who was picked up
by the police department from a ditch. They
believed she had been hit by a car - with
the swelling of her face I sure can't blame
them for that thought. Blue is between 5
& 7 years of age and has a large cystic
area which involes the bone in the nasal
area. Since she has blood coming from her
nose, the vet believes it is malignant. We're
still awaiting test results. Hopefully, we'll
have those by Saturday & it won't be
a malignant tumor!
Blue was due to be put down today because
of the "injury" and she was listless,
just lying around. The vet's office cleaned
her up and said she was in better spirits,
but still was inhaling the "stuff"
into her lungs and when exhaling, blowing
the stuff out. The vet says that Blue is
just a wonderful personality of a dog, very
patient and kind. She said that Blue is a
very good girl & doesn't give them any
grief about anything they want/need to do.
April 4, 2002 update...Told by Sandy Cheney:
Wanted to pass along that Blue was helped
to the Bridge today. The tests finally came
back and while it wasn't showing up as a
malignant tumor, the culture that was done
did come back as a rare bacteria that only
shows up with cancer.
Blue was a heart breaker because she was
a very gentle girl even in pain. She never
offered a growl or harsh tone when examined.
She didn't have an Eskie smile though. She
stopped eating last night and was in obvious
pain. I loved on her today when I saw her
and told her she was loved and had many people
saying prayers for her.
She completely has broken my heart, though
I am not free to shed my tears at this point.
This is one of the things that makes rescue
so hard. Blue was such a sweet, gentle soul
who did not deserve to have this type of
fate thrust upon her (like so many of our
Eskies who have crossed).
Blue's bills total $101 and will be paid
from the DogBowl.
Sadly missing Blue,
Sandy
