Sugar's Story
Hi EskieFriends,
My name is Sugar. I was raised in a puppy mill where I was used to produce NON purebred puppies. No one knows how old I am. Everyone thinks I'm about ten years old or more. It is possible I'm younger, and in this condition because I was forced to produce puppies every six months. I'm a Pom-Poodle mix. Totally submissive, (I wonder why!). I am a total love sponge and I want nothing more than to be held and loved.

When my FosterMom Kitten got me, my breasts were full of mammary tumors. The vet said there were about 26 tumors. There were 12 around just one nipple! The vet removed these tumors during my spay surgery but they almost lost me. They only used gas because I was so weak, but even with gas, my little system just gave up. I had died, but they worked quickly to save me and YEA! They were successful. Life slowly seeped back into my little body! My life was saved.

I went home to Kitten's Lighthouse. After seven days of antibiotics FosterMom Kitten noticed some swelling around some of my incisions. (I have five incisions). Mom discovered that I had chewed out some of the stitches and had developed an infection. Oh no! I didn't mean to do that, but they hurt and itched a lot.

Back to the vet I went. My vet said even though I needed to be re-stitched, they were afraid to put me under again. When I heard that, I was scared TOO!

They cleaned my incisions, applied an antibiotic salve, and put me on stronger antibiotics. Kitten had to clean out the infection, apply salve, and give antibiotics every day since then. It has been touch and go with me, and I have taken up a LOT of FosterMom's time keeping me alive.

Great news....I got my stitches and staples out yesterday. YIPPEEEE!

I am feeling SOOOO much better now!! I twirl and dance like the puppy I was never allowed to be. I run and play with those WHITE THINGS (Mom calls them Eskies except for that Job, she calls him horndog!) and all the other dogs at Lighthouse. I feel so good that... even I think I'm a puppy again! Arf!Arf! Of course, I try to keep the Eskies in line here, but I'm slightly outnumbered! But I do know....I have never been so happy in my life!

My bill is only $132. I'm glad there are people like you to help in.....giving life a second chance.
