Hi EskieFriends,

My name is Nicky. I'm a neutered 1 yr old handsome Eskie furboy! I was picked up as a stray by Harris County, Texas Animal Control, and transferred to Citizens for Animal Protection, because I was obviously a purebred. I was then transferred to Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary because of my illness and injury. Noah's Ark is a small no kill, donation-only shelter, that operates on a very small budget.

My case was BAD! I had severe kennel cough; a bullet in my chest lodged near a vital organ, and a broken elbow -- an old injury which has healed badly because of never having been set. I wish I could tell you about my past life.

Even through all this, I am one of the sweetest babies at the "Ark".

Heather took me to a specialist to see if they could remove the bullet and reset my elbow. Sorta bad news....The vet said that because of the location, to leave the bullet alone....it would cause more damage to try and remove it. My elbow was completely shattered and it can't be reconstructed. I would be going through more pain and suffering than I already have gone through. I move along okay, just can't bend the elbow. It's locked in place. I will always have a limp. But hey, I'm in good spirits and recovering from the heartworm treatment. I am in one of our better foster homes living a very pampered life.

I'm on the upper side of a mini, have a nice coat with lots of ruff around the neck. I'm great with the kids that come into the shelter. I love to be walked. I'm a cute little dog that demands YOU pay attention to me. I'm still a puppy. I still need a permanent loving forever home. Someone that will love me, and my limp.

I heard Heather say: "I do want everyone to please understand... if the recommendation was to treat Nicky, then he would be, at any cost. There wouldn't be a door that wasn't banged on in this entire city to raise the money".

Thus, my bill is only $291. Far short of the $1,050 raised for me. The money will be used for more needy Eskies. Thank you for giving me(and others)...a second chance at life.

I'm enjoying life again, but I need MY own special family.
