December 2001 Dogbowl Payout: Libbey

Libbey's Story
Hi EskieFriends,
Hi, I'm Libbey, a cute, very sweet 4 yr old Eskie! I don't know why, but I became an Eskie without a home in the summer of 2000. I ended up in a Wooster OH shelter. No one could understand, especially me, how I ended up there. The humans there were really nice to me, but I missed my human family, and MY family. You see...I had recently had puppies and was still swollen with the last of my milk. I have a foot long c-section scar! I also wonder where my puppies are?!

Heart Bandits was called, and a real nice lady named Sandy picked me up and took me home with her. She named me "Liberty". I got to meet her 2 human boys, and oh what fun!! I love kids!!! Then a lady named Joyce, now my human Mom, took me to her house. Plans were to go live with someone in Cleveland, but it became obvious that I *hated* cats, and the plans changed!!! Joyce taught me to be nice with cats, and now, Smokey, Coco, Chaplin and me are best buds.
At my first vet visit, I was an angel---until I saw a large picture of a cat hanging on the wall. I got my hackles up, growled and snarled. FosterMom Joyce took the picture down and turned it to the wall and I immediately calmed down! Arf! Arf!

Then FosterMom was told bad news! I was heartworm positive and not spayed. I got injections in my back (ouch). I recovered well and no more HW. I had to wait to be spayed 'cuz of the HW treatments. After so much time had passed, my fosterMom Joyce decided I would just join her family. She said I've been through enough!

This year....something new and scary! I had tumors on my chest, chest and mammary tumors! They were growing and changing! Mom said I would need surgery to have them removed. We are hoping they are not cancerous. Mom said the twinkle in my eyes was dull and I just wasn't my usual playful self. I really didn't feel good!
We have a big eskie family here. LOTS of Eskies available for adoption! Mom tries to give us the best life possible. Since I was up for adoption for so long before Mom adopted me, EFs said they would pay for removal of my tumors, since my Mom paid for the heartworm treatment.

Surgery wasn't that bad! But......I have several large hairless circles on my belly and under my arms. I hope the hair grows back in quickly so I can look pretty when Santa Paws comes down my chimney.
My vet gave us a discount so the actual charge is only $216. As soon as Jill receives the bill, she will send the money to my wonderful vet. Thank you all for...giving life a second chance!! I feel better already!!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Eskie Hugs & Kisses, Luv & Licks,
Libbey the Eskie cutie!!
