November 2001 Auction to help Amari and SnowDog!
SnowDog's Story
| My name is SnowDog and I'm VERY lucky to
be alive. My Eskie "brother" didn't
survive the abuse, the starvation! My family
moved and left us behind in horse stalls
of a run-down barn….to fend for ourselves,
for 2 months!!! We didn't have food. We became
very hungry. My brother starved to death.
I barely survived, and I still miss my brother.
When 2 children found my "brother" dead, they told their Dad. The Dad went to get a special lady, new to the neighborhood but already known as an "animal person", and together they went to the stable. There was nothing left of my poor brother except fur. Luckily they checked the other stalls in the stable and found me ALIVE, but VERY weak. |

The next morning I went to another
lady's
home. This nice lady, Amanda, said
she would
foster me. She took me to the vet and
discovered
I was heartworm positive!! My HW was
in an
early stage. I potty trained very quickly. Once my neutering "took", I quit lifting my leg. Mom was happy about that! I know a few basic commands. We started working on my house manners, but I am so unbelievably smart that I am nothing but a joy. I'm not use to being indoors, but learned very fast. Everything was new to me. I am young and Mom says I'm a doll baby!! ESPECIALLY considering what I have been through. I exceeded Mom's expectations by leaps and bounds in the first 2 weeks. I learned what it meant to be a "loved dog". My coat was a little red from the dirt I laid upon. When I was neutered, they had to shave most of the hair off of my underbelly because of the mats. I was a little gassy from time to time because my tummy wasn't used to having food. I would hoard my food, hiding it for another day, but that habit has gone away now, since I know there is a steady supply. Mom had to watch me carefully. I was hospitalized for a few days for my HW treatment. The vet shaved 2 spots on my back. They injected the chemical near my spinal cord. I'm doing quite well!! Mom REALLY missed me. |
| Neighbors estimate that our family left about
2 months before we were found. I survived
on my own feces, and probably rats. Despite
my history of severe neglect, I am still
a wonderful dog. Mom tells everyone, if you
want to know the meaning of unconditional
love, then look this poor creature in the
eyes. I need $317 to pay my bill in full. Will you help me? I owe my life to those 2 children, their Dad and the nice ladies. I want to thank you EskieFriends for helping my FosterMom pay for my care. ALL of you have given me….a second chance at life. Now watch out, here comes a big sloppy kiss…..From SnowDog to YOU!!!
